RATES AND LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY SUMMARY
Easy (E) - Moderate (M) - Challenging (C) - Strenuous (S)

The Rates and Levels of Difficulty of Our Expeditions are Both Calculated Based on the Following Combined Factors:

  • Destination (Remoteness of Amazon Territory Set to Travel).

  • Length (Number of Days Set to Travel).

  • Objective (Purpose and Requirements to Accomplish it).

  • Land and River Navigation Complexity (Easy-Moderate-Challenging-Strenuous).

  • Land and River Navigation Time (Hours-Days-Weeks-Months).

  • Weather Conditions and Temperature Range.

  • General Levels of Comfort.

  • Logistics Prep Involved/Required.

  • Personnel Involved/Required.

  • Amount of Travelers Participating.

  • Government and Local Permits, Entries, Contributions, and Taxes.

Expedition Level 1: EASY

Our Expeditions are simply not considered at this level at all, unless you are only requesting to stay in one particular place for customs and traditions sharing with locals in the areas we are traveling.

Expedition Level 3: MODERATE

The moderate level expeditions into the jungle will have fairly easy hikes of medium duration, and sometimes somewhat difficult hikes from short to long. No experience is necessary, but good health and reasonable fitness are important. Some faster paced hikes and occasionally longer / harder days may be involved, but general ground conditions will be fair. Normal day's hiking range from four to six hours and is mixed with short to medium trips by river navigation, motor and rowing.

Expedition Level 5: CHALLENGING

The physical condition is important in this level, that will begin to show its necessity gradually while crossing the jungle in explorations, and in searches of other territories. The weather, the insects and the great distances will take their toll. Previous hiking experience is desirable, but not vital if you are confident in your physical condition. Hiking key days usually last between six and eight hours, although they can be longer and can last several days. Expect to row wooden canoes for hours during explorations on different narrow rivers, upstream and downstream.

Expedition Level 7: STRENUOUS

At this level we recommend previous experience of any jungle trek, preferably in high mountain jungle. You need to have full confidence in your ability to hike for many days on difficult terrain. You will find yourself on difficult level hikes through remote jungle and unexpected changes in difficult weather conditions. You will have to experiment with building your own wooden rafts and canoes to cross rivers, at the same time you will always have to carry your own load, build shelters at ground and tree level, etc. At this level of difficulty, our expeditions will last no less than ten days and without any comfort. Endurance, good physical condition, and high adaptability will play a very important and essential role, since hiking and jungle exploration days can last from 10 to 16 hours or more on key days.
