WHAT TO PACK

Equipment, Responsibility & Self-Sufficiency

Packing for an Amazon Expeditioners program is not about comfort, convenience, or personal preference.

Everything you bring — and everything you fail to bring — directly affects:

  • Your safety

  • Your autonomy

  • The workload of indigenous hunters

  • The rhythm of the group

This list exists to establish clarity, accountability, and self-sufficiency.

Participants are expected to arrive prepared, informed, and fully equipped.

🔹 BEFORE YOU PACK (IMPORTANT)

You are entering an environment where:

  • Replacement items may not exist

  • Resupply is limited or impossible

  • Indigenous hunters do not carry excess gear for participants

  • Every object has weight, purpose, and consequence

Bring only what is listed.
Do not bring items for comfort, novelty, or reassurance unless explicitly stated.

Failure to pack correctly may result in:

  • Delayed participation

  • Restricted activities

  • Or removal from the expedition without refund

🔹 PACKING PRINCIPLES

All equipment must be:

  • Functional – tested, broken-in, and familiar

  • Durable – able to withstand heat, humidity, and prolonged use

  • Minimal – no redundancy beyond what is specified

  • Self-supported – you carry and manage your own gear

If you do not understand the purpose of an item, ask before arrival — not during the expedition.

🔹 REQUIRED EQUIPMENT LIST

  • Long pants suitable for jungle movement

🔹 ITEMS NOT PERMITTED

  • Excess electronics

  • Drones or filming equipment (without prior approval)

  • Comfort items not listed

This is not a recreational environment.

Participant-led filming or documentation equipment is not permitted unless explicitly authorized in writing by Amazon Expeditioners and indigenous leadership.

🔹 FINAL NOTE ON RESPONSIBILITY

Packing correctly is your first act of participation.

It demonstrates:

  • Respect for the program

  • Respect for indigenous hunters

  • Respect for the environment

  • Respect for yourself

If you arrive unprepared, the jungle will expose it quickly.
