FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

◈Gateway Experiences

These questions answer the most common inquiries about our Gateway Experiences.

If you don't find the answer you're looking for, feel free to contact us before making a formal reservation.

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Are Gateway Experiences private or shared?

Both options are available.

Some departures operate as small shared groups, while private departures may also be available depending on availability and the experience selected.

What is the difference between the Lodge-Based and Into the Wild Camping Gateway Experiences?

Our Lodge-Based Gateway Experiences combine rainforest exploration with the comfort of an Amazon eco-lodge.

Our Into the Wild Camping Gateway Experiences are entirely camping-based, allowing travelers to sleep beneath the rainforest canopy and enjoy a more adventurous outdoor experience.

Both provide authentic introductions to the Peruvian Amazon while maintaining professional guiding and responsible tourism practices.

Do I need previous camping or jungle experience?

No.

Gateway Experiences are designed for travelers of all experience levels.

Your local guide will provide instructions throughout the journey whenever needed.

Are these experiences suitable for beginners?

Yes.

As long as you enjoy nature, outdoor activities, and are in reasonable physical condition, Gateway Experiences are appropriate for most travelers.

What languages do the guides speak?

Professional local guides are available in both English and Spanish.

If another language is required, please let us know before booking so we can review available options.

2. ACCOMMODATION & CAMPING

Where will I sleep?

This depends on the experience you choose.

• Lodge-Based Gateway Experiences include accommodation in carefully selected jungle eco-lodges.

• Into the Wild Gateway Experiences include camping in remote rainforest locations using camping equipment provided by the local operator.

Are bathrooms and showers available?

Eco-lodges provide bathroom facilities.

Camping use nature on campsites and locations.

Do I need to bring my own camping equipment?

No.

Camping equipment is provided for Into the Wild Camping Gateway Experiences.

A detailed packing list will be provided before departure.

3. WILDLIFE & ACTIVITIES

What wildlife might I see?

Depending on the season and natural conditions, you may observe:

• Pink and gray river dolphins

• Monkeys

• Sloths

• Macaws

• Toucans

• Caimans

• Turtles

• Frogs

• Butterflies

• Countless bird species

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed because animals remain completely wild.

Will we see snakes or spiders?

Possibly.

The Amazon is home to many species of reptiles, insects, and spiders.

Encounters are uncommon and guides know how to minimize unnecessary contact while respecting wildlife.

Can we swim in the river?

Yes.

River swimming is offered only in locations considered appropriate by your guide and environmental conditions.

Participation is always optional.

Are night excursions included?

Yes.

All of them include nighttime walks or boat excursions to observe nocturnal wildlife and experience the rainforest after dark.

4. HEALTH & SAFETY

Is this experience safe?

Yes.

All Gateway Experiences are professionally guided by experienced local teams familiar with the region.

As with any outdoor activity, participants are expected to follow guide instructions at all times.

Are vaccinations required?

Vaccination recommendations vary by country and personal circumstances.

Please consult your physician or travel clinic before traveling to Peru.

What happens in case of a medical emergency?

Guides follow established emergency procedures and coordinate evacuation when necessary.

Because these experiences take place in remote rainforest environments, participants are strongly encouraged to obtain travel insurance.

5. RESERVATIONS & BOOKINGS

How far in advance should I reserve?

For groups of 2–6 participants, Gateway Experiences can be booked directly online when the reservation is made at least 10 days before the preferred departure date.

This minimum notice gives the local team sufficient time to coordinate transportation, guides, meals, accommodation, equipment, and other logistics required for the experience.

Can I book within 10 days of departure?

Possibly.

Short-notice requests require individual confirmation because availability and logistics must be checked before a reservation can be accepted.

Please contact us before attempting to book a departure within the 10-day window.

Can solo travelers book directly online?

Solo travelers should contact us before booking.

Depending on availability, we may be able to place a solo traveler with an existing shared group.

Are Gateway Experiences available year-round?

Gateway Experiences operate throughout the year, subject to weather conditions, river levels, guide availability, and other operational considerations.

Are Gateway Experiences rigidly scheduled?

No.

Each experience provides an outline or itinerary describing the type of activities and environments you may encounter. Actual activities and their sequence may change according to weather, river conditions, wildlife activity, local circumstances, and operational considerations.

The Amazon is a living environment, and we adapt the experience accordingly.

6. PHOTOGRAPHY & PERSONAL RECORDING

Can I bring a camera?

Absolutely.

Photography for personal use is welcome.

We simply ask guests to respect local communities and request permission before photographing people whenever appropriate.

Can I film my experience?

Yes.

Personal filming is welcome provided it does not interfere with the experience, local communities, wildlife, or other guests.

Commercial filming, documentaries, or professional productions require prior authorization.

7. FINAL QUESTIONS

Is this experience suitable for children?

Some itineraries may be appropriate for families.

Please contact us before booking so we can recommend the most suitable option.

Which Gateway Experience should I choose?

Choose a Lodge-Based Gateway Experience if you prefer greater comfort while exploring the rainforest.

Choose an Into the Wild Camping Gateway Experience if you're looking for a more adventurous outdoor experience with overnight camping in the Amazon.
