TAHUAYO EXPEDITION 5 OR 6 DAYS LONG: This well delivered exploration through the Tamshiyacu - Tahuayo Regional and Communal Conservation Area, is an adventurous expedition within a very remote and interesting jungle territory widely explored and navigated only by AMAZON EXPEDITIONERS. During these 5 or 6 days expedition, our visitors will be able to experience one of the shortest journeys that we can possibly offer within the depths of the Amazon rainforest, areas of complex jungle where our team has a habit of exploring, an expedition that will be quite compact with a wide variety of native jungle activities.

As we explore this jungle territory, our overnight stays will take place in the depths of its primary jungle and in different places each night, combining our stays between tents, mosquito nets, hammocks and native cabins.

HIGHLIGHT: Only when the water level of the Tahuayo River is at an average height, and taking into account the total days on our agenda, we’ll be able to conduct a short exploration upstream on this river. The purpose of this upcoming jungle wildlife exploration will be to reach several remote "Clay Licks" best known as "Collpas" by locals. The word “Collpa” derives from the "Quechua" Inca dialect, which means "Salty Land" all located only on high and non flooded jungle land, where all different species of animals gather to feed from its underground minerals, mainly large birds and mammals such as (tapirs, capybaras, deers, different jungle felines, parrots, etc.).

GOOD NEWS FOR THE MOST DEMANDING TRAVELERS: The LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY of these expeditions CAN BE MODIFIED from EASY to MODERATE to CHALLENGING at the request of the traveler. Those who choose the EASY and MODERATE LEVELS will be able to reach the Tahuayo River in the course of the first day by using a shortcut through 2 indigenous communities; and those who choose the CHALLENGING LEVEL will arrive between 2 to 3 days approximately after conducting an extensive and intense hike through primary jungle. Once the Tahuayo River is reached, our jungle exploration activities will continue in typical wooden canoes.
